I had gone for a "business meeting" today, regarding some freelance work... While we waited for the head honcho to show up, we were asked if we wanted something to drink... some tea or coffee... this came to my mind then... I so wanted to say it, just couldn't push myself to do it... Thank god i have a blog to do this... :P

Sleepless Work 2

I've been having trouble with my fan... it's been making a lot of noise... and Pawar, who lives on top has been having sleepless nights... i really didn't have a problem... i can sleep through most anything... but he can't... he went and got the electrician and fixed the fan... twice... :)

i wish everything would get solved like that... :D

The hostel illustration competition

Once in a while the people in our hostel get really excited and decide to have competitions for illustrations, using any software and in a limited time.

Two days back we had one... and the topics were

1) A crocodile sneaking up on a rubber duck with a red band around its neck. (half an hour, color, limited background)

2) A kid wearing his underwear sucking his toe.(fifteen minutes, only line art)

and here's my attemt at the two... i couldn' finish the first one... i spent too much time making the bubbles and trying to make the marble texture... i'll finish that one sometime soon and post again...

 Line art is my favorite round because i can finish the sketch in time, and i can add detail... :D

the third one is my preliminary sketch of the concept... over which i applied some watercolor later on... i wished i could achieve the same in photoshop... :P

Dari Doba... thats what we called him, because he was the only person in our family who sported a beard... He had an affinity for cigarettes, whiskey, pocket watches and cowboy hats... Whenever I used to visit his room, I could smell the same smoke from the Navy Cut cigarettes he used to smoke...

last vacation when i went back home, i entered his room... and i could get a whiff of navy cut... the smell refuses to leave his room, just like he refused to leave his cigarettes when he got sick...He was one of the wisest people that i have ever known, but i guess, he wasn't wise enough to leave his cigarettes before things got bad...

I recently visited Diu again... This was my third visit to the union territory and the second in the short span of one month. And like always i had an awesome time. I don't know if it was the beer, the mopeds or the beer that beckons you all the time, but whatever it may be i shall always be ready to go...

Tsunami

I was scribbling around with my brushpen somedays back... and this was what came out... 

i am not as comfortable working with a brush as much as i am with a pen or a pencil... 

and whenever i work with a brush i get really conscious of all my lines... 

i never use a brush if i have to ink anything at all... 

the brushpen, that way, was a brilliant addition for my box of sationaries... it has removed my inhibitions and now i feel fine while using a brush... yay!!!

Illustration competition....

Me and Sushmeit used to work on some illustrations with some constraints, in the past as an excuse to learn photoshop and other softwares, giving a limited amount of time for each illustration... that stopped in between as many people guessed it would've... but now its back... with more participants ranging from Aman Dubey and Chandradhar to Tarun and Angith... Here are a few new ones...

1) woman trying to break free but something is holding her back... she has red hair and she's wearing rags... [photoshop, 30 minutes]

2)Completed... but i think the previous unfinished version was better... [1 hour]

3) Pig is looking in the mirror and has a hairdo and a dress can be seen in the background...[photoshop, 30 minutes, incomplete]

4) A head is licking spectacles... the head has curly hair... and one iris is smaller than the other...[photoshop, 15 minutes]

5) A man on a couch wearing a lungi and a red ruby is getting tortured by the contents of the telivision... [photoshop, 30 minutes, incomplete??]

6) A robot trying to smell a flowe... robot has one wheel... [photoshop, 15 minutes]

7) A school kid in uniform trying to fly with an apparatus which has two wings... has a broken tooth... [photoshop, 30 minutes]
